TYPES OF CONDITIONERS

There are so many types of conditioners out there on the market that makes it difficult to choose. Well, before you can decide which conditioner to buy, you must decide what type of conditioner you need to buy. You see, conditioners come in a variety of basic formulas, each treating a specific need. Let us look at a few categories to see what makes them different.

RINSE-OFF These are conditioners that you apply to your hair after washing with shampoo or another cleanser and rinse-off, therefore the name. All of these could contain emollients, botanical extracts, proteins or amino acids, vitamins, and other goodies for your hair.

LEAVE-IN CONDITIONERS. These are much lighter in consistency – they can usually be sprayed out of a spritzer bottle – and may contain styling agents. These may have greater benefits for hair because the active ingredients are not rinsed out. You may also find leave-in detanglers: These tend to contain exceptionally light conditioning agents intended to detangle hair.

DEEP TREATMENT CONDITIONERS These tend to have 5% to 10% of conditioners products to increase the conditioning benefits. Many will include oils or butter for extra conditioning, and generally include all the wonderful ingredients included in the rinse-off conditioners. They tend to be thicker thanks to the increase in cationic compounds and butter and may be packaged in jars. They are not intended to be used daily although dry or damaged hair types could use these as a regular conditioner.

Now that you have the basic information, you will be able to make better choices from all the selection of conditioners out there.
